Shelley Theatre still remains closed but we are working away in the background issuing refunds and looking forward to the future and being open!

The Shelley Theatre is determined to survive these challenging times. We would like to thank you all for the truly heart-warming support you have shown us, and we look forward to welcoming you back when we re-open.

ACCESS AND FACILITIES

Getting here

Shelley Theatre

Beechwood Avenue

Bournemouth

Dorset

BH5 1LX

Our location is easy to find and is often spotted first as Shelley Manor Medical Centre. We are near the cliff top at Boscombe, within walking distance of the shops and at the back of Shelley Park. Boscombe is situated roughly between Bournemouth and Southbourne.

Public Transport

We are a 15 minute walk from Pokedown for Boscombe railway station and a five minute walk from all the major bus routes that pass through Boscombe.

Car Parks

There are 2 car parks - one in front of the building and one at the rear of the building. Both are shared with the medical centre, and are free to use for theatre patrons after 6pm and at weekends.

In addition, there is free on-street parking on the roads surrounding the theatre.

Both car parks have designated disabled parking spaces, although the front car park is recommended for easy access.

Our main entrance is situated in the courtyard to the right of the medical centre.

Information for those with access requirements

Wheelchair users have easy access throughout the ground floor.

The foyer space contains one accessible toilet and two other ground level unisex toilets. There is level access into the theatre via a ramp from the foyer.

The theatre contains two wheelchair spaces towards the front with a good view of the stage. These spaces adjoin regular seat.

When booking theatre seats, please note: Rows A to F are on ground level. Stepped access begins with Row G.

There is ramped access to the emergency exit but once outside the theatre, wheelchair users will be evacuated onto parkland which includes shingle and grassed areas.

We do not have hearing loops fitted into the building at present, although we hope that this is something we will do in the future with further fundraising.
